[Isolation - alone in life for a time]

There's a lot implied in this piece, I've struggled with self harm, friends of mine have, this is well done. The figure is well crafted, the pose is readable. The only thing for the future is that backgrounds have great power and investing a bit of time in perspective and such is definitely a good idea for everyone.

My older kids wanted me to make something and enter so I did for them. Art is a family thing for us.

I agree about your point for backgrounds. They can be powerful tool in art but it also depends on what the creator wants to imply and why...

Isolation is something Ive always had to deal with and is so relatable to me but remembering some aspects is only worth so much. So I didnt want a background just a dark scratchy choppy vague intentional mess.
My character can be anywhere.

I would have liked to do this in my pastels but at the moment I had limited supplies on hand and
figured ink and a sketchy drawing would have more of the choppy affect I wanted anyway. I didnt even erase my lines. I enjoyed making this piece and remembering how glorious escape was..and how different isolation can be just in one's own life.

So for this piece its the place she was at emotionally that was important both in her present and her past...an implied place anyone can fill in.

I guess now its a piece where everyone will have to decide too if its really missing and the deatils would make a difference or if its just not worth having anyway..
